The lake has a very large head of carp that are in the range of 3lb to 15lb. In the warmer months they respond well to pole tactics with banded pellet over pellet working well at 13m or so both shallow and on the deck. Closer in meat and corn both work well and later in the day they can often be found in the margins particularly on worm or dead maggot over dead maggot or groundbait. As the water cools they are best caught on the long pole on live maggot or on the feeder with method feeder and maggot feeder working well.
A large head of these carp were stocked in 2011 when they weighed from a few ounces to 1.5lb. Since then they have grown rapidly and now generally range from 1.5lb+ to 8lb+ with plenty of specimens to 5lb present.
In the summer they can often provide frenzied sport on the log pole shallow on banded pellet. The quality specimens often turn up at just a few metres or in the margins on meat or corn.
In the colder months they respond well to the maggot feeder or sometimes the long pole and maggot.
6lb 4oz, what a beauty (the fish that is certainly not match regular Steve Nicholls).
As all of the fish continue to grow rapidly in this big lake the match record is still being broken regularly. Currently Steve Waters sponsored by Drennan holds the record with 318lb caught on maggot shallow.
Typical winning weights in the warmer months range from 130lb to 200lb and 40lb to 80lb in the winter months.

PLEASURE ANGLING
The lake is available to pleasure anglers outside of the open match days of Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. Being such a large lake it particularly suits the angler that still likes to use rod and line with the feeder working well on this lake.
